Rocky Tales Q1 Update — 1.5 Months Into the First Quarter
December 17, 2025
As we move into the first quarter of the fiscal year, Rocky Tales is thrilled to share exceptional momentum across our publishing and community engagement milestones. What began as a heartfelt creative journey has quickly grown into a dynamic, resonant brand — and we’re only just getting started.
📚 Book Launch Success — A Standing Ovation from Readers
On November 17, 2025, we released our first children’s book, Rok'n Crew Snowboards. Since launch, copies have been sliding off the shelves, driven by grassroots enthusiasm, word-of-mouth, and strong local connections.
We’re especially proud of the traction we’ve gained so far — a remarkable achievement when weighed against industry norms: the average self-published book typically sells around 250–300 copies over its entire lifetime according to publishing industry data, with many titles selling fewer than 100 copies without significant marketing support. Alpha Book Publisher+1
Rocky Tales has already surpassed the average self-publisher benchmark within just weeks of release, marking a significant early success in a highly competitive market.
📻 Local Media Presence
Our founder and author, Sophia Gould, has taken the Rocky Tales story into the community with two live radio interviews on local stations. These conversations highlighted the inspirations behind the book, our values in promoting literacy and outdoor exploration, and the broader mission of Rocky Tales. Community interest continues to grow as listeners tune in and reach out for copies.
📍 Expanded Retail Footprint
Rocky Tales is now proudly in two retail locations — a major milestone in expanding our physical presence beyond online sales:
- SHREDZ! Skate Shop, Cochrane, AB — our first local retail partner, amplifying Rocky Tales within the youth adventure community at home.
- Nakiska Ski Resort, AB — our first ski resort placement, and a full-circle moment for Sophia. Nakiska isn’t just a retail location; it’s a place where Sophia has worked, played, and shaped her outdoor life for nearly a decade, and where she’s now teaching her son to ride the very slopes that inspired her.
These placements reflect both community trust and diversified distribution — key components for long-term brand growth.
🌎 National and International Reach
While rooted in Alberta, Rocky Tales titles have made it far beyond local borders. So far, copies have been shipped all across Canada and even reached readers in New York State, USA — evidence of the universal appeal of our stories and messages.
📈 Looking Ahead — Next Story in the Series
Work is already underway on the next book in the Rocky Tales series, with a projected release in Spring 2027. Our team is building on the creative and operational lessons of the first launch to ensure an even stronger rollout next year.
🙏 Thank You, Community
Everything we’ve accomplished in this first wave — media features, retail partnerships, cross-border distribution, and creating moments of joy for young readers — is made possible by our community: readers, parents, shop owners, resort partners, radio stations, and supporters near and far.
Your enthusiasm fuels our next steps.
